A day of celebration for our wider Baptist family

A week ago Tuesday I was in New York City for an anniversary celebration of National Ministries of the ABCUSA. During the day the group reclaimed the name American Baptist Home Mission Societies and declared that their work would continue to reach into every corner of American society to share the good news and bring hope.

It was a great day. It began with a service the Mariners Baptist temple in the lower East Side of Manhattan just outside Chinatown. It continued with lunch at the Ministers & Missionaries office on Riverside Drive in the upper West Side. The day closed with worship at the Riverside Church which is bordered by Columbia University and Harlem.

It was a great day and a reminder that the work we do in our community is making a difference in the lives of the people who live in it.
